Food for the Hungry Exhibition & Print Sale: Women of Bangladesh

Last night I had the wonderful honor of putting on an exhibition of my work at Food for the Hungry USA, here in Phoenix. The show was in combination with an event called A Taste of Bangladesh, a gathering designed to raise awareness and financial sponsorship for impoverished women in Bangladesh.

Food for the Hungry works with women in the country to form education and savings groups where, among other things, the women learn how to save money, how to develop income-generating small businesses, how to read and write, and how to be leaders in their community. They in turn learn to see themselves as valuable members of society and as equals. Women are being empowered to lift themselves out of poverty, illegal child marriages are being prevented through education, and families and communities are seeing hope for a better future.

It was a fantastic night, and I’m so excited to be part of what’s happening in Bangladesh.

All prints from the show were for sale, but if you missed the event, or even if you were there and would like to buy a print to help women in Bangladesh, you still can.

Prints will be for sale right here, and 50% of the proceeds from all prints sold between now and SUNDAY, MAY 29 will go to help women attend these learning/saving groups. Prints listed here are 13×19 inches and come unframed.

A huge thanks to FH for letting me be part of this event! You can find out more about Food for the Hungry’s work in Bangladesh on their website or on facebook.
